Retention

When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment.

Your upper retainer is removable and is to be worn full-time (except when eating or brushing) for the first two months. Then, after the first two months of full-time wear, you may wear your upper retainer at night only. The lower retainer is a small wire that is bonded behind the lower front six teeth and is not removable. Retention is a life-long commitment. If you do not wear your retainer, there is a risk for relapse. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember, a beautiful smile is a life-long commitment.
